One day, a very nice sunny day, I came to Garosugil for a walk. Korean people usually sleep-in till a little later in the morning of weekends, so usually, there are less people that time.
Once I was there at Garosugil, just as I thought, there were not so many people on the street, so I decided to go to the LINE friends shop that I wanted to go and check it out!
My intention wasn’t to buy something from the LINE friends shop, but to check out on the café, “LINE Friends Cafe” in the basement. A few days back, my co-worker gave me a Brown’s macaroon (Brown is the name of LINE Friends character that looks like a bear) and I was pretty sure she got the one from this café! It was really cute and I just wanted to come see those LINE Friends sweets myself!

LINE Friends Café
It does stand out in the middle of Garosugil. It’s very easy to find!!
Again, like I expected, there were not so many people yet in the morning of Sunday.
This is the Brown; he welcomes you at the entrance!
Have a cup of coffe with LINE Friends!

LINE Friends café is located in the basement corner of the LINE Friends character shop↓↓
When you take this stairs, you will see the LINE Friends Café↓↓
I wonder, I guess the most popular character is Brown, as I see so many of him. EVERYWHERE!!
In front of the counter, you will find cookies and mini-cakes for souvenir.
EVERYTHING I see here are soooo cute↓↓
Even those little cookies!
How it looks inside the café
The café itself is not really big – I guess there are so many nice cafes in Garosugil so there not many people who would choose to be in LINE Friends café to have a cup of coffee, unless you are a big fan of those Brown and Cony. So, that’s personally what I thought for this café to be not that big… but who knows.
Even on the wall, cute LINE Friends souvenirs are placed on the shelves that you can find here at the LINE Friends shop↓↓
Everything is so cute…
All I say here is “kawaii” here and I am fed up with my very limited vocabulary, but everything IS so “kawaii” here! (※”kawaii” is one of Japanese people’s favorite words and it means “little and cute”)
Especially those sweets inside the glass case↓↓
And those macaroon was outstandingly cute! And many people buy those for presents, like my co-worker, I heard.
Not only my co-worker at the company, but I’ve received those macaroons for a gift a couple of times!
But one more thing that’s popular besides macaroon as a gift – a macaroon case! You should buy macaroon case together with your macaroon, coz the one I received from my co-worker was crushed in many pieces…
You can see the macaroon case that I am talking about on the picture below:(the can on the left…!!)↓↓
Cupcakes are all cute too↓↓
Menu at the café was nothing new; the pricing was normal, too, just like other cafés in Korea. American coffee and cafe latte were about 4,000~ KRW. I actually expected the price to be a little higher as this café is one of those themed (popular character’s) café!
I had a roll cake and coffee set. It was 8,000 KRW in total.
This bell has the Brown too! ↓↓
Things I had↓↓
- Green tea roll cake
- Coffee
The cake was kinda disappointing… I thought the center part is all whipped crème but the texture was actually more like Bavarian pudding or something like mousse with some gelatin.
In Korea, it is so hard to find cakes that are good in quality, mainly because the crème tastes so different and artificial. I really enjoy Korean food in Korea but I am really not satisfied are dairy products such as cheese, butter, and crème what I can get in Korea. I really wish they have better dairy products.
So I don’t really expect much for the crème on cakes in Korea, but when I thought it was whipped crème and found out that it’s got some gelatin in it, I get so disappointed.
But anyways, the cuteness defies everything – even the taste!
LINE is very popular in Japan but I guess in Korea, kakao talk is way more popular. But in my opinion, LINE has better stamps, so I am secretly trying to make my friends LINE users,,, which I am failing a big time…
One thing I really don’t like kakao talk and the biggest reason why I prefer LINE is that people in Korea usually use the same phone for work and private, so on my kakao talk chat list, there are too many people from work, even though the application is completely for my private use.
Well, I guess Korean people use kakao talk for work too, but I refuse to so I don’t have much work stuff going on in my kakao talk, but I still see work people on my friends list which I don’t really feel comfortable with.
Anyways, back to the topic, the LINE Friends Café, it was really cute and all, but I guess it would be enough just to pay one-time visit.
I heard that there is also a couple LINE Friends Cafés in Japan too, so I guess it’s nothing new to Japanese people, but as a café, it was reasonable, so if I were to go there again, I might just stop by only to get my coffee when I get too tired of shopping; after all the location was really nice in the middle of Garosugil!!
